LAWTON, OKLAHOMA (November 13, 2024) – The Tribal Leadership Council (TLC) is pleased to announce its first round of subscriptions issued to Tribal youth for the Indigenous Class platform.
“Indigenous Class is a self-discovery, streaming platform highlighting the most successful leaders working in Indian Country today,” said Caleb McDaniel, Founder and CEO of Indigenous Class. “We look forward to hosting and mentoring the next generation of leaders at Indigenous Class.”
Subscriptions for indigenousclass.com are being awarded to eight Tribal youth from the Comanche Nation, Eastern Shawnee Tribe, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Pueblo of Santa Clara, North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians, and Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians.
The Indigenous Class platform launched November 1, 2024, in honor of Native American Heritage Month. The platform is dedicated to showcasing successful education developed by Native communities and focusing on professional development and personal growth.
The first three classes offered are diverse in content including: Leading with Courage: Empowering Leadership Insights by Dru Alejandre, Community Protection: MMIW and Student Training by Jill Shero-McDaniel, and Acting and Character Development by Robert Mesa.
Robert Mesa of the Navajo Nation and Soboba Band of Mission Indians discusses his development path in theater and film. He’s starred in “Dark Winds” on AMC, “Men Who Built America’ on the History Channel, and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ on ABC.
Andrew “Dru” Alejandre from the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians was the youngest elected Tribal Chairman at the time he was elected at 27. Dru reflects on the leadership legacy his grandfather left.
Jill Shero, Co-Founder and COO of Indigenous Class, has a passion for preventing violence against Tribal communities and protecting families. She discusses human trafficking, the misconceptions, and tools to combat it.
“TLC is excited to work with Indigenous Class as we aim to offer teaching tools to the next generation,” said TLC Chairman Justin Barrett. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them and provide free subscriptions to upcoming Tribal youth leaders around the county.
