Justin Barrett, Treasurer
Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma
Justin Barrett was elected the Treasurer of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma (ESTO) in September 2020. He is the youngest person ever elected to serve on the Business Committee of the ESTO. He is also the Chief Operating Officer of Empower Nation. Barrett has worked for various tribal gaming operations and became a gaming executive prior to working for Empower Nation. He is involved in the Indian Gaming Association, Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association, National Congress of American Indians, Native American Finance Officers Association, and the United Indian Nations of Oklahoma.
In 2022, Barrett was awarded the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association’s Chairman’s Award for outstanding achievement in Indian gaming. He also received the Oklahoma NexGen Under 30 Award for Hospitality. In 2023, Barrett was shortlisted for the SBC Tribal Leader of the Year Award.
In addition to his Treasurer position, Barrett serves on other committees that benefit Indian Country. He serves on the Oklahoma Tribal Finance Consortium Board of Directors and the Oklahoma Native Impact Study Committee.
