Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma
Justin Barrett was elected the Treasurer of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma (ESTO) in September 2020. He is the youngest person ever elected to serve on the Business Committee of the ESTO.
Barrett has worked for various tribal gaming operations and became a gaming executive prior to starting his own consulting practice. He has opened various gaming properties in both tribal and commercial jurisdictions and has also worked for a tribal gaming regulatory authority.
Barrett is the Chairman & Co-Founder of the Tribal Leadership Council. In 2024 he was elected Treasurer for the Indian Gaming Association (IGA). He also serves as a Tribal Nations Advisory Council Co-Chair for AISES, Board Member for the Oklahoma Tribal Finance Consortium, Committee Member for the Oklahoma Native Impact Study Committee, and Board Member for the 7G Foundation.
He previously served as the Eastern Oklahoma Regional Alternate Delegate to the IGA Board of Directors, IGA Delegate, Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association Board Member/Delegate, NAFOA Delegate, Alternate Delegate to the National Congress of American Indians, and Alternate Delegate to the United Indian Nations of Oklahoma.
In 2022, Barrett was awarded the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association’s Chairman’s Award for outstanding achievement in Indian gaming. He also received the Oklahoma NexGen Under 30 Award for Hospitality. In 2023 and 2024, Barrett was shortlisted for the SBC Tribal Leader of the Year Award. In 2024 he was awarded the Native American 40 Under 40 Award by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development.
