Thomas Lozano
Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of Enterprise Rancheria
Mr. Thomas Lozano has served on Tribal Council for 20-years for the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of Enterprise Rancheria, in Northern California, he was first elected in 2005, most recently as Treasurer for the last 10 years.
Mr. Lozano recently completed his term as Chair of the National American Indian Housing Council. He has been a Board member of the Enterprise Rancheria Indian Housing Authority for over 16 years. Mr. Lozano also serves on several committees and boards such as being a Regent for the California Tribal College, while sitting on the Tribe’s Education Committee and Economic Development Authority.
Mr. Lozano is a mentor to numerous tribal citizens of the Estom Yumeka Maidu of Enterprise Rancheria and the Native American Community in areas leadership, sovereignty, tribal governance, economic development, planning/implementation, and cultural practices.
Mr. Lozano plays a key role in the Tribe’s political outreach and advocacy with Federal and State governments, the community, and tribal governance within Indian Country by advocating though policy making, attending several meetings which foster a great relationship on a Federal and State level, establishing a stronger government-to-government relationship.
Mr. Lozano frequently makes written and oral presentations to a wide range of audiences regarding housing, tribal history, sovereignty, education, economic development, leadership development, such as theories on transactional leadership versus transformational leadership, and tribal governance.
Mr. Lozano is very passionate in the work he conducts within Native American Country, and the importance sovereignty, self-reliant, and self-sufficient for all Tribal Nations. Mr. Lozano is also an Alumnus of California State University, Sacramento.
